Mandatory Coaches Training, for Spring 2017, will be December 10 OR January 7  from 9-2,  Spring Branch ISD West Houston Support Center 2100 Shadowdale Houston, TX 77043

***All volunteers must fill out an application and submit to a background check.***

Below is a list of volunteer opportunities, expectations, and requirements (where applicable).

Head Coach

Serving as a head coach is one of the most rewarding ways you can get involved with Girls on the Run. You get to see first hand the impact that the program has on the girls. The time commitment is 20 ninety-minute sessions spread over 10 weeks. There will be some time outside of practice that you will need to spend preparing for the lessons and communicating with parents and the site liaison.

Requirements:

  • A positive and energetic role model to the girls!
  • Female, at least 21 years of age
  • Consent to a background check
  • Attend in person Coaches Training and complete on-line training provided by GOTR of Greater Houston
  • Certification in CPR & 1st Aid (this course will be offered in conjunction with the training)
  • Planning the end-of-season celebration
  • Attend the 5k

Assistant Coach

Serving as an assistant coach is a fun and rewarding way to get involved with Girls on the Run. The time commitment is 24 ninety-minute sessions spread over 12 weeks. The assistant coach is not primarily responsible for facilitating the curriculum, he/she is required to support the head coach in any way needed.

Requirements:

  • A positive and energetic role model to the girls!
  • Female or Male, at least 21 years of age
  • Consent to a background check
  • Attend in person Coaches Training and complete on-line training provided by GOTR of Greater Houston
  • Assist in planning the end-of-season celebration
  • Attend the 5k

Junior Coach

Serving as a junior is a great way for a high school student to get involved. She is there to assist the coaches and participate with the girls. Junior coaches can set up the frequency of their attendance with the head coach.

Requirements:

  • A positive and energetic role model to the girls!
  • Female, at least 15 years of age
  • Attend in person training and complete on-line training
  • Attend the 5k

Coach Registration

Adelaide Group

Serving on our Adelaide Group is a fun and rewarding way to see our program in action. This is the perfect way to be involved

without the time commitment of the entire 10 week program.

       Requirements:

  • A positive and energetic role model to the girls!
  • Female or Male, at least 21 years of age
  • Consent to a background check
  • Attend a in person  Coaches Training and complete on-line training provided by GOTR of Greater Houston
  • Time during the season to attend after-school sessions throughout the Houston Area
